w-still life #4 yls-m is part of the series of works that are made solely using washi tape on paper to create representations of daily life objects, while simultaneously questioning what makes a still life and what a still life has to look like.

The problem set out for this work was to create a work with a limited color pallet and set of patterns to create the composition. The patterns and colors are still manipulated in a way to reference the material of the objects, texture, color, light and shadow. The additional challenge was to use the pattern of the tape to allude to the directionality and form of fabric, without it getting lost in the use of pattern for shadows.
