nk w-still life is a new development in the w-still life series. Artworks created mainly with washi tape now combine further mixed media like beads and markers on varying surfaces to further exhibit representations of daily life objects, while simultaneously questioning what makes a still life or what one has to look like.

The surface for the work being a Nike paper bag as a reference to the obtainability, accessibility, and treasuring of “nice” things or the miscellaneous within the Hispanic community. The patterns and colors of the tapes are chosen and manipulated to reference color, light, layers, and material. The beads act as a reference to the childhood treasuring of fantasy or handmade jewelry that exist as replacements for pearls or luxury accessories (i.e “the American Dream”).
